BUSINESS RESOURCES

THE MORE YOU LEARN, THE MORE YOU EARN.
— WARREN BUFFETT

FUNDINg strategies

*We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again here. These are simply resources. We have no affiliation with these businesses, nor do we recommend one over the other. We do, however, recommend having a mentor in some capacity on your side to help you decide which approach to funding is best. NEO Fund (for Northeast Ohio residents) and SCORE.ORG have excellent mentors.

💵 Do you have any money? Be your own bank and cash-flow your way! People do it every day, and it would be our #1 recommendation on where to start with small-business funding.

🏘️ Friends and family! That aunt who said she knew you’d do something great one day. The BFF who owes you $1,000 . The small inheritance you got from your grandpa. Owing friends and family money is never fun and it should only be done when both parties know the exact terms (written on paper), but they’re our second suggestion after using your own money if you absolutely have to get some cash fast.

🏦 Go speak with your local credit union or community bank. They can typically be more helpful than major-brand banks when it comes to personal loans. They can speak with you and answer the questions you have.

Funding (in the form of borrowing) isn’t for necessary for every small business. There are ways to find money, create content and sell products and services with what you have today. 🙌🏻

KIVA - Microloans with a focus on social impact. The platform uses a community-based approach that allows your friends and family to contribute followed by a community of KIVA’s lenders.

SBA MICROLOAN PROGRAM - Government-backed loans typically less than $50,000.
