The Many Styles of Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurs come in all styles—discover which one you are.

For a long time, I thought my husband was the entrepreneur.

He’s the classic story: started selling candy and creepy crawlers in elementary school, hated his one “real job” out of high school (Walmart), and has been hustling and flipping ever since. The guy doesn’t stop. He wakes up and works, comes home from work and works. Business ideas just fall out of his pockets. He’s a natural. He could sell cucumbers to a cat (I wish those videos would come back 😻).

But me? I thought I was just the helper. The “supportive wife.” The one keeping things organized behind the scenes. I told myself: He’s the entrepreneur. I just help.

But here’s what I finally realized - and what I want to share with every underestimated business owner out there:

👉 Entrepreneurship doesn’t have a single personality type.

💡 Wait… You Mean I Am an Entrepreneur?

Yep.

Even though I’ve had “real jobs.”
Even though I like structure and stability.
Even though I’m not a natural salesperson.
Even though I didn’t see myself in the flashy startup stories or Instagram moguls.

The truth is, I was the one who figured out our business licenses.
I was the one who learned the compliance rules.
I was the one doing the hiring, the marketing, the daily operations, the networking.

And when the idea for The Hub, North hit me, I couldn’t wait to build something from scratch. The systems. The workflows. The community. The mission. It felt like I’ve been preparing for this the whole time.

That’s when it clicked: I’m not just helping. I’m building.

🧩 The Many Styles of Entrepreneurship

Not everyone’s a born salesman.
Not everyone thrives on spreadsheets.
Not everyone dreams up branding ideas in the shower.

And that’s exactly the point.

Every business needs different types of thinkers and doers. Here are just a few entrepreneurial styles I see in real life all the time (and honestly, I’m sure there are many more):

1. The Seller

I feel like this is the one that immediately comes to mind when people think “entrepreneur”. You love pitching, closing, and building relationships through deals. You could cucumbers to cats (seriously, why are they afraid of cucumbers?).

2. The Builder

You’re obsessed with systems, workflows, and infrastructure. If it’s inefficient, you’ll fix it. If it doesn’t exist, you’ll build it.

3. The Creative

Maybe you hate all of the paperwork, the systems, the red tape nonsense. You just want to create: art, content, inventions, etc.

4. The Connector

You thrive on community, collaboration, and relationships. You know that who you know can be just as important as what you do.

5. The Visionary

You live in the land of “what if.” You’re the dreamer, the big-picture thinker, the spark that ignites new ideas.

6. The Operator

You make it happen. You’re the glue. The manager, the implementer, the one who makes sure it all actually runs. Without you, the dream would stay a dream.

So… What’s Your Style?

You might be one of these. Or like in my case, you might be 2 or 3 or more!
You might change styles depending on the season and what you’re working on.
And that’s okay.

The point isn’t to fit into a box or try to fix or reposition yourself into something you’re not.
The point is to see yourself clearly and stop disqualifying your version of entrepreneurship just because it doesn’t look like someone else’s.

You don’t have to love sales to be a real entrepreneur.
You don’t have to be an extrovert.
You don’t have to be the visionary.

You just have to show up and build the damn thing.
In your way. With your style.

You know that what you’re doing is something awesome. Who cares how people have done it (or haven’t done it) in the past. There’s someone out there that needs you - and that’s who you’re doing it for.

I want to hear from you 🙌🏻
