Nobody Cares About your Logo (Do these 3 Things Instead)

Quit juggling and get to work!

Starting a business can feel like trying to juggle flaming torches while riding a unicycle. There are so many moving parts - logos, websites, business plans, LLCs, Instagram feeds, “Should I get an office space???” - and before you know it, you’re spiraling. You work on something today, but tomorrow’s idea leaves today’s work in the dust as another “to-do”.

Here’s the truth: most of that doesn’t matter right now. At all.
If you’re brand new, there are only three things you actually need to do. The rest? Don’t worry, we’ll get there!

1. Decide what problem you solve (and for who).

OK OK, I know this seems boring, but I promise you - if you don’t know who you’re selling to then you won’t sell to anybody. If you can’t answer “Who do you help?” and “What do you help them with?” in a single sentence, pause. Do not pass go. Do not buy the Canva Pro subscription (yes, I’m talking to you 😉).

Because clarity here is EVERYTHING. In 2025, just “selling the product” isn’t enough. There’s too much noise around people. They’re being bombarded by products, services and flashy, fancy, beautiful things 24 hour/s day! So you need to solve a problem for them to make their life more (better, less stressful, more beautiful, more secure, the list goes on and on). They need to feel how you want them to feel. They need to need your product. Example:

  • “I help busy moms get dinner on the table without losing their minds.”

  • “I sell vintage VHS tapes to people who miss Blockbuster.”

  • “I help people find the right insurance coverage so that their family feels secure in times of stress.”

  • “I sell high-end oil paintings to people who want their homes to feel glamorous.”

Once you know what problem you solve, you’ll be able to better create products, content, marketing strategies, budgeting decisions and more.

💡 Resources to try:

  1. Grab our simple Ideal Customer Worksheet! This is a simple one-page document that you can (and should) expand on. Dig deep here!

  2. HubSpot’s free Make My Persona tool.

2. Set up one ridiculously simple way to get paid.

In case this has been stressing you out: You don’t need an e-commerce empire. You need ONE way for money to actually land in your pocket. You can get waaaay more advanced as time goes on, but if someone wants to give you money - take it! And be ready for it. You don’t want to be fumbling around while someone is looking at you, card in hand. Just take it, say Thank You and figure out the confusing stuff later.

This could be:

  • A Square card reader.

  • A PayPal, Venmo or Cash App link.

  • A Gumroad page if you’re selling a digital thing.

  • If you have a website, see if they offer a simple Shopping Cart tool.

That’s it. Don’t overthink it. If someone says “How can I pay you?” you better have an answer that takes less than five seconds.

Did you set it up yet? Do it now 🙌🏻

💡 A note: Square is not my favorite for long-term payments because truthfully, you can find better rates. The big BUT is that it’s super simple to set up and use. It’s so straightforward my dog could do it - and he barks at people on Zoom.

Tell the world!

3. Tell people about it (before you feel ready).

This one’s gonna sting a little: nobody cares about your logo. Or your website. Or your 14-page business plan. (Talking to myself here… ouch 😣).

What they do care about is: can you help them? And are you open for business?

So tell them! Post it on your personal Facebook page. Text your aunt who knows everybody in town. DM your friend who’s been complaining about the exact problem you solve. You don’t need a marketing degree or a 5 month content calendar. You need courage to open your mouth.

This one, for me, is hard. I get so caught up in the look, the feel, do I sound too snobby, do I need to sound more serious, can I say “shit”?, what will ___ think? The struggle is real and I get it, friend. Years in business and I still can’t just press “send”. So I’m here, right alongside you. Let’s just tell people, OK?! Some people won’t get it, but the right people will and if you tell no one, then how will they find you?

💡 Resource to try: Use Canva to whip up a quick announcement graphic. Or just write: “Hey friends, I’m officially offering [thing you do]. Here’s how you can work with me.” Done.

Final Word

Your business doesn’t need to look polished. It needs to be alive.

So forget the overwhelm. Forget the 10,000-item to-do list. Start with these three moves:

  1. Pick your person + problem.

  2. Set up a way to get paid.

  3. Tell someone. Today.

Because clarity doesn’t come from sitting in your head, it comes from action.
